State Legislative Policy Director, American Religious Freedom Program

The Ethics and Public Policy Center seeks outstanding candidates for the new position of State Legislative Policy Director for its American Religious Freedom Program.

Description: Operates in a leadership capacity to establish support for religious-freedom policies in state legislatures, to coordinate policy development with broad networks of allies, and to create educational resources on religious freedom for use by legislators and other allies. Produces (and oversees others' production of) research reports, policy papers, model legislation, opinion pieces, media advisories, and similar written products. Collaborates with allies to ensure accurate state and local media coverage of religious-freedom issues and of work by religious-freedom supporters. Coordinates policy development and messaging with the national office. Responsible for comprehensive strategic and tactical planning and for written reporting.

Candidates must have excellent relational and communication skills and a track record of sound political judgment. Ideal candidates will have a master's degree or J.D. and 5-7 years of relevant legislative or policy experience. The position includes substantial travel.
